Kiso valley – Tsumago-juku
05 July 2015
Tsumago is a second post town from south, next to Magome. This town is the most famous that best preserved post town in Japan. We had little rain in late afternoon, I felt rainy day is also nice in Tsumago. Please enjoy below phots I think you feel as if you had been transported through time to the Edo period.
Remains of old houses of Edo period along the street. Electricity cable and telephone lines were buried.
Mascot of small Kakashi(scarecrow) is displed at the entrance. What a lovely it is.(upper)Teruterubozu were hung at the entrance of old house. I think no english word for this, it is a paper doll, children pray for fine weahter tomorrow.(belower)
It is getting dark, outdoor lamps are reflected surface of wet street after rain.
Aburaya – this house use to be an oil-seller. (midole)
Stone-weighed roof – it was common in old days in Japan. Nowadays, this kind of roof isn’t seen much anymore.
